I'm quite certain that I have at least as much FUN in my BRZ as many Porsche Cup car guys do. It's just a different experience in each.
There is a significant amount of enjoyment in driving a "Slow Car Fast". These days there are a lot of high performance "track cars" that coast their way into the braking zone. They are "cheater cars" that make the driver appear to be a lot better than they really are. The car actually hinders driver development. In many cases, the car saves the driver from mistakes they have no idea they are even making. Most of the guys who pay for their HP and performance know it. Unfortunately, quite a few don't know it. All of them, to a T, respect the 86 car... I've had many in my right seat.
The "high consumable side of the tracks" isn't necessarily greener... I never complain about my car. My consumables are like a low buck Miata. Would I like to own a GT3? Sure! Would I necessarily have more FUN? NO! It's just different. I'd love to own them all...
The 86 car is an exceptional car in the way the Miata is. I'm convinced of that. If it's the kind of car that suits you, you might want to hang onto it. Who knows how many will be made...
