I have the same story, except it involved roofing (my Father owned a roofing company) and it happened about twice a week. Eventually you just think its a normal thing to do. These days, my Father would be in jail for child abuse.
LOL I think several of us have similar stories. One of my dad's get rich quick schemes (pretty sure he lost money every time) was demolishing houses. I was helping him from about age 8 to 10. Since I had no work boots (or any other PPE for that matter) I probably had at least 10 nails go through my foot over the couple of years we did it. If that happened today, with a real employer, an adult employee and the Ministry of Labour found out there would be fines flying everywhere. I can't even picture what would happen if they found out it was an 8 to 10 year old doing the work.
