Had mine on for 15,000km+ and no complaints. Hard to say if they have saved me from any chips. I'll be going wider wheels + tires this summer though so maybe they will at that point.

I agree the darker color cars look great with OEM mudflaps.
I painted my OEM mudflaps silver, and they looked awesome. Couldn't find a pic of when I had them. I used adhesion promoter, primer, D6S Scion Paint and clear.
Here is a pic of OEM flaps painted. I think it looks great!
