In fact if you correct the gearing on the autos as people do with a final drive swap, they are equal or better in every way than their manual counterpart. The service manual can be a set of novels for a auto trans. but the fact is manual transmissions time are up. Instead of trying to fight against the inevitable, I'd just try and accept it and not let a transmission be the central part of choosing a vehicle.
