I'd strongly encourage you to look into the '17 Performance Pkg cars. Adding the Sachs dampers and Brembos with great looking wheels for $1K is a crazy bargain, IMO. I also suspect the shorter final drive is a big plus and hides some of the torque dip character, but I don't have any seat time in earlier cars. If you're getting the car for it's chassis like I did, the PPkg. enhances things I care most about. I love this thing and I came out of a '15 STI, which I also loved, but not that much I guess
