The difference is the GTR has a history and people know what that car is all about. You're taking general statements (and lip service) made by corporate execs/engineers about a brand new car and interpreting them to mean what you want. Just because the AE-86 is the inspiration for this new car doesn't mean it's going to be a modern day clone.

There were just as many excited people when Mazda was going to re-invent the sports car and revive the market with the RX-8 and it's obvious that didn't happen. All I'm saying is that it can't hurt to be a little objective when it comes to what it takes to make a successful car in today's market. I'm clearly not the only person here that wants this car to have a good/upscale interior and competitive straight line performance in addition to great looks and fantastic handling.
