I have never had them unless it was very warm out and even then only at idle. As soon as I started to move they went away. Not a 17 though so maybe they just changed instead of getting rid of them.

while the car, and the engine, slow down, crickets appear

Like Tcoat said it's not crickets it's a wet belt. Crickets only appear at idle. The most reasonable explanation I remember being proposed is the seals in the HPFP need more lubrication than ethanol rich fuels provide. The new pump has different seals so is more tolerant of the garbage we use for fuel here in the US.
