I bought my first car at age 18 and paid $200 cash. No insurance cost because it was classified as a farm vehicle. I drove it till I was out of college (age 23). That made the cost of ownership (outside of gas, tires etc.) about $40 per year. Never could afford new wheels ..... I just painted the rims and put on port-a-walls .....
