I was originally going to utilise twin external wastegates with my twin scroll manifold so I can keep the exhaust pulses entirely seperate. I'm unsure how the borgwarner internal wastegate manages to vent both sides of the exhaust housing? Or maybe I am just over thinking it as I am absolutely sure people much smarter than I have designed this turbo
You can see that the turbine is fully divided and has a port for each volute in the below photo. This divide is kept all the way to the flapper door, just like running twin external wastegates except it's all kept internal and dumps back into the exhaust stream just after the turbine. It's a very well designed turbine housing.

I read on the borgwarner website that you can also run a normal blow off valve in conjunction with their item
There is no issue with the BPV being where it is located. It is honestly one of the most effective BPVs I've witnessed first hand. I haven't heard any surge which means it is doing a great job at venting any excess pressure in the pressurized intake tract.

I see no reason to run another BOV unless you want more noise.

Eric
