You are right it's a great hobby.
We
can mod, but there are so many restrictions if wanting to keep it legal. Just as an example I can't get the wheels I want (Enkei RPF1), because they don't have TÜV approval. I have a limited choice of coil-overs etc etc. Brakepads? Forget being legal!.. As we say here when someone asks for advice: "Do you want to be legal, or do you want to be able to brake?".
