Most competitive autocrossers go with 17x9 wheels wrapped in 245/40/17 Bridgestone RE71R. it give optimal traction for short bursts, but as temperature build up, it loses some grip properties, so it may not be the best for track. As for daily/weekend spirited driving, Michelin PSS are the most popular.

the most popular light weight wheels is Enkei RPF1(not my favorite design), but there are slightly more expensive alternatives such as Wedssport TC105N.
