I was quite impressed when I read that. However we perhaps should not base expectations on the achievements of one outlier.
The breakthrough will come when a talented person packages the solution into a product that will sell at a price that provides value to the market and makes him money. That is known as market disruption and something that we as consumers can look forward to. I myself am patiently waiting for the universal can-bus translator that will work with any car by running the entire code through a Rosetta stone like decoder.
I work in an industry where everything we do was impossible or magic just two years ago. By the time we are done, its just another Bic lighter.
