I understand that highs naturally sound louder, but if I set the gains independently, should I set then to be about equal in output?

It's an EQ thing.. I found with the stock system that the highs usually had to be pulled lower than the lows..or run it flat. I thought the system that came in it sounded very nice.. I could tweak it very little (not much choice) and just keep the highs down under control and it was very clean - a factory system but a lot better than most. They at least showed they cared by trying.. I also have a 2002 S2000-anybody remember that sad pathetic excuse for a stereo? Honda should just left a hole.. "your audio goes here!"
