All depends what you are looking for in a car. Though these cars are both sports cars, they differ in terms of practicality, ergonomics, torque/power etc. Way too many to list.
Owning a twin and having driven an STI I can say that they're both fun but they're different kinds of fun. It's all about knowing your driving style, what you're going to be doing on the roads or on the track and making the decision accordingly. Personally, if I wanted a car that's a little more practical I'd go with the STI. If I lived in an area with long sweeping roads, I'd take an STI. If I wanted better fuel economy, I'd go for a BRZ. If I lived in an area with a lot of curvy and tight-turn roads, I'd go for a BRZ.
Both cars have great aftermarket support and variety if that's what you're into.
