BRZ VS 15 STI suspension
BRZ VS 2015 STI suspension-
what are your thoughts on this. -steering -agility -etc... ones more powerful than the other, but how do they FEEL compared to each other in regards to suspension only? |

Suspension is a means to managing the mass of the vehicle to maintain maximum contact of the tires to the ground.
The STI has significantly more mass to manage. You are literally comparing a 4 door sedan to a small coupe, night and day difference. Go to your dealership, dress in business casual, ask nicely and find out for yourself. |

Drive them for yourself. Two very different cars built with very different purposes in mind. Evo handles better than the new STI so you may want to drive in one of those as well.
If you are looking for the fastest car around the track, then none of these are the best options. |

I had an 08 STI that was stage 2. A hoot to drive and a great do anything car. But I never enjoyed driving it as much as I do the BRZ. And mechanically my BRZ is still stock...

I went from a '13 FRS to a '15 STi, and had an '06 STi in the past.
13 FRS is the best as far as driver feel. While the '15 STi seems to be just as stiff/great chassis, steering response, and stock suspension as compared to the FRS (love the steering ratio BTW) the '15 STi has the same problem as most AWD cars. The road feel through the steering wheel is numb and you dont feel nearly as connected to the road. Vast improvement over the '06 STi however. Basically: STi is hands down the better vehicle stock for stock, but it suffers the same problem almost all AWD cars do as far as input feel, and it is obviously larger and heavier than the FRS. If I were to build a track car I would build the STi if I were looking for the best platform. If I were looking for something that would be more of a "throw away after a season or 2" wheel to wheel track car it would be the FRS. |

STi feels heavy and does not change direction nearly as quickly as the twins.

I have driven brz and an frs in the past at dealerships. worlds better than the 2011 wrx I had. I loved the way the twins drove minus the argument of a few extra hp (that may can be fixed in the aftermarket). but the new sti seems like a beast. it would be a DD and may not see a track but once in a blue moon if ever. i will drive a 16 sti when i get done with this deployment and see. i have the next 5 months to think about it.

I will have to see I guess. I used to own a 2012 boss 302, and to me that thing was brute and a scalpel in the same car. but I enjoyed the suspension in that car more than the power. but it had way more the the 305 hp that the sti had. the boss handled great but the power was to much to use on the street. so I figured if the sti handles the same or close to the brz and it obviously has the USUABLE power for a DD car, it may be the easier to live with choice. or may be the wrx. I hear it has light steering though.
but if the handling of the brz is night and day to the sti, brz may be better choice. |

After driving both, they're two completely different cars and hard to really compare properly.
FRS/BRZ is much smaller and lighter. It feels nimble, on its toes and its nice. For stock suspension, its a bit firm but nothing crazy at all. The STI is bigger and heavier by a noticeable amount. The suspension feels a bit more plush though on bumpy roads, even with all of the increased rigidity and stiffness within the chassis itself. It doesn't feel undersprung or underdamped though, just like the FRS doesn't feel oversprung or overdamped. Accounting for the characterstics of each car, they both feel like they're set up well from the get go.
