If you waited until after you got the car repaired, or you had a very small amount of damage (ie. paint) its probably not worth the hassle to try and go around looking for a DV claim at that point. I'm not saying its impossible, but there are right ways to do things, and insurance companies are sticklers for that.

Yeah, it wasn't a "small" amount of damage lol, 11.5k total damage is well over a third of what the sticker price was
