The independents may be ok
IF they sell enough of the premium stuff to keep it fresh. Don't let branding fool you since most of it comes from the same place anyway and each just throw their own additives in and call it theirs.
One of the only times I had serious crickets was when I was out in the middle of now where and had to get gas at a Mom and Pop station. The car ran like crap and had mega crickets for that whole tank. Just out of curiosity I stopped by there a few weeks later and asked how often they got 91. He could not remember when the last shipment of it had been but knew it was "months". When it sits in the tanks for months at a time it really no longer is what they claim it is.
