The Shorai batteries are rock solid. I've had my 3 pound one in for two years as of this month. Never have charged it or anything.

This is true, but it also depends on where you live. On the Gulf Coast, it's fine year-round. My 3 pounder has cranked in 15F weather before. Here's proof of 25F though:
