Another thing, I think it may be attached to this thread about the bills of rights saying that having civilian armed with firearms can protect this country. I think this is where BoostJunkie was coming from. If you are in military or have proper training, and not being a moron, carrying a gun may not be that an issue. However, there is a valid point is that if it is easy to acquire a firearm, the chance of any moron getting a gun and use it in the wrong application is very high. IMHO, there are valid points on both sides and I think there may not be a correct answer to this question.

Yes, but there are some cases where unmiliterized people know how to use them, I was very knowledgeable and good with guns before I went I'n the military, same with most of my family members, but I do realize there are a lot of people that don't fall under that category
