Heck, all my cars are modded and not for bling. There is no perfect car I wouldn't change something about until you drop down maybe $400,000. So I don't think modding cars indicates anything about the 86 versus other choices.

I had to test drive this car 3x's before it all started to add up and make sense for me enough to actually buy one. I had a lot of reservations to start off with. I have sharper edgier cars, more powerful cars with more cylinders, grippier cars with AWD. In the final analysis, it simply was the most versatile jack of all trades daily driver for a single person available with great performance potential based on how I like to have fun driving. It also has a stupid funny 'character' that makes you want to giggle after you do dumb stuff like donuts or a slight drift before you put the car to bed at the end of the day. Despite not being the best at any one thing, it's the only car I have that makes me want to do 'just one more thing' before I park it in the garage.

This car is just funny. I laugh getting close to 40mpg on a long trip. I laugh when I take an off ramp at ludicrous speed weaving through traffic and the car's aero doesn't flinch. I laugh when people or things stand in the middle of the street and pretend to be cones. I laugh going to Home Depot or IKEA and hauling back a desk or set of shelves. To me, this car is freaking hilarious and I love it for it. Thin paint, crickets and all. If this car had a British badge on it, people wouldn't be complaining about anything. Quirks are special if you're British...or even Swedish.
