I was worried that the back-up latch might give out eventually and the hood would fly back into the windshield since it will freely travel all the way up.

That being said, I'd still like it to sit flush at high rates of speed. Guess it's time to do more research and figure out how to keep it from doing it.

I guess I could always do what I did with my 1970 Chevelle. Just install hood pins.
