Not throwing stones. I've been riding peaky straight-4 bikes forever. Even then, it took me a while to adapt to this little machine. I've quite enjoyed learning it.
Just remember those fragile little synchros. You can sequentially downshift and engage the clutch with each gear until you get comfortable with steady-state driving in the powerband. Get to know the correct gear for the speed at which you want to initiate a good pull. Be careful not to overdo it.
Once you're confident you can double-clutch from 6th to 3rd smoothly without abusing the synchro, you'll pass like a boss. It's fun!
