EDIT: I haven't had trouble with torque, driving in either full auto mode or manual mode. The auto mode does take longer to respond if you aren't using the paddles, but that's to be expected. But I do also realize these threads devolve into an e-peen measuring contest, so whatever.

If I wanted to drive a car like manual, I wouldn't buy a fucking auto and then use the paddle shifters, I'd buy a fucking manual.
So if the OP is looking at AT's I'm assuming they dont want to spend their entire time driving it like a MT and by your own admission (see bold) the AT is not quite as responsive.
The AT is not terrible but when I did a test drive it was just enough to be annoying for me.
