Initially, an old diesel mechanic suggested adding the Lucas fuel treatment (or a dash of oil) to a tank of fuel. His reasoning was that diesel fuels don't have the same lubricating qualities they used to since sulfur levels have dropped, and the same should apply to gasoline with ethanol in it. I tried the Lucas stuff, and it made a difference, but not enough of one to keep using it.
Someone on the forum suggested trying a TC-W3 rated 2-stroke oil, so I did. I found that as little as 1oz makes a difference (about the same difference as 4-5oz of Lucas treatment), and ~2oz kills them completely. It does not effect performance at all. I have not had any catalytic converter or O2 sensor issues either, and using such a small amount, I don't expect I will.
