That was on my way back home to Eureka, from the place pictured. Now over 11k miles on my four month old 2015 FRS. (Most recent road trip was 8469.2mi.)
Recent trip MPG per car's computer...32.9 going east, 31.2 for overall trip...including city driving. Most freeway driving was up to 10mph over the limit, and west Texas has 80mph limit. 93 octane fuel used Texas and east of it. No such available west of Texas.
I did drive in snow in west Texas one afternoon. Ever drive 55 in an 80mph zone ? Well I have now...lol.
My only complaints: Inherent blind spots, making lane changes difficult in traffic, and paint which chips easily on the road (freeway) driving.
Is it a great road trip car ? Hell yes !
Note: Car had 16mi. on it as new to me...October 2, 2014. Car was already thoroughly tested, prior to trip, on twisty, rough roads, dirt roads, etc. in the lost coast area of Northern Cali. And I certainly did not observe any cautious break-in period prior to 500mi. as was advised. (I beat the piss out of the engine in high rpms from the get go). No oil burning observed so far.
First Oil and filter done at a Scion Stealership in Florida at 7800mi. No problems to report at that time and also now at over 11k mi.

Very cool! Thanks for the great writeup. Pretty sure you've set a road trip distance record here, impressive!
Although Key West is an offbeat destination, I love the more secluded Keys. Great beaches, snorkeling and SCUBA. One of the few places anywhere that you can dive off the beach, grab lobsters for dinner from the reef and grill them up on the beach while enjoying a tropical sunset.
