Sure, in the end, you can cite it and eventually get things your way, but it's not as if the mere mention of it will make the dealership and/or the manufacturer fold.

Exactly. Waving you arms around and citing the MM act to the service manager will not make it a nice and easy dealer visit and it isn't a gurantee you can get something covered.
