Why would Scion offer the FT86 internationally especially when Scion is only able to crank out less than 2500 units of each line up. Even if Scion is TECHNICALLY Toyota, they are still their own company, and as such probably wouldn't be able to offer the FT86 as to where they stand now, they are still a relatively new corporation.

So whats with all this rumors and press releases and such? Even with my very limited knowlege of business, shares, and partners. In my head this just not make sense.

Im 100% positive that the FT86 will not be sold as a Scion as they have no where near the capacity to maintain a large order, especially since it will indefinitely replace the already high sales of its current coupe the TC which still has 2-3 more years of shelf life.
Toyota builds and ships all Scions (tc has a 2AZ-FE Camry motor). Scion is simply a marketing tool to sell entry-level cars. So to say Scion doesn't have the capacity to deliver is a flawed statement. The brand itself is managed by it's own president and staff, but the manufacturing and global distribution is still done by Toyota.

And if price alone qualifies the car to be sold under a certain emblem, then the Yaris, Matrix, Corolla and Camry would all be Scions because they're all under $20k.

I love my tC and I love the scion scene and people, but it's disgusting to think that Toyota would release the FT-86 as a Scion. It doesn't belong there. It's like bringing back the Supra as a Scion. But then again, look at Toyota's line-up - they offer nothing with F/I and the only two-door car they offer is the Yaris (aside from the trucks). IF they marketed the FT-86 as a scion, it's more than likely because it doesn't fit anywhere in their Toyota lineup either.

I can understand why they would do it, but I still think it's a stupid move.
