For example I traded rides with my friend who dailies a v6 auto Camaro rs. When I would get on the gas after coming out of a turn the car would lug until I guess the torque converter and engine had caught up with each other.

It was like driving a turbo car with lots of lag. Step on the gas, nothing, then boom the V6 power kicks in.

Is the auto fr-s the same way?
The connection is very direct. Everyone who goes for a ride in this comments how much snappier it is than any other auto. It's as close to DTC as you can get without a massive price tag.

Plus, if you drive in manual mode while you're driving aggressively (as you probably would), the connection is mechanical via the lock-up clutch, and the torque converter doesn't even come into play.
