I come from both sports cars and I'll give you my insight as well. First of all, you should go out and test drive both to see which one you prefer. I liked that Z had plenty of power and it was torquey. Handling was pretty good and it felt nimble at the time. Since being a two seater, it was loud and had barely any cargo space. Gas mileage wasn't too bad either compared to STi's or EVOs. However, when you're tracking the car, its' engine tend to overheat quite easily and would reach 260F+ degrees. Also, the brakes and clutch would heat up quickly and my friend's Z had his clutch stucked to the floor and he had to pull it up with his foot. I had to get an aftermarket oil cooler just to keep the engine temperature down. However, on a 115+ degrees outside, even an oil cooler cannot help you. Z will activate its' limp mode which will cut the revs until the car is cool enough. That gets annoying, but it's a safety feature to prevent you from blowing up the car. However, Z is a nice grand tourer DD car with rev-matching manual gear box. It responds nicely to the mods and sees decent gains for a naturally-aspirated V6. I like the BRZ's nimbleness, lightweight, better handling characteristics than the Z. Gas mileage is better, not loud, overall better DD. All I can say is go out and test drive each!

I apologize for the long reply...
