I was exaggerating on purpose there with the Ferrari/Lambo. Here are some more realistic examples. What if Chevy brought the Camaro out as a Saturn Camaro. Or instead of a Dodge Viper it became the Eagle Viper. Or the example above with the Mercury Mustang. Just doesn't fit well with the history of the car and what enthusiasts envisioned.
This is meant as the spiritual successor to the AE86. Not sure why Toyota couldn't bring over the 86/GT-86. Well actually we do know the answer; it is a last minute hail mary attempt to save Scion from going under.
