Sad but true...there are no bare bones cheap sports cars to be had and cars in general are pricer now with the average car price at around $28K. Recently my dd died (04 PT Cruiser GT) and I went shopping for an equivalent. The closest thing I could find was an MS3 or WRX. Both cars were $25K+ base with the WRX topping out near $30K. Ended up with the MS3, but still...when the 1st gen came out I recall people paying $21K and it wasn't that long ago.
