I've done a few sets of Impreza/WRX/STI lights before. Ain't no thang.

Everything inside your headlight should be able to withstand temperatures of at least 250F for periods of time. Think about how hot the engine bay gets when you're flogging the car. Do the headlights melt away because of this? No.
If you want to play it safe, go low and slow on temperature and time. 200F (or whatever that equates to in your upside down Celsius) for 7-10 minutes should do it. If you want to be reaaaaaally safe, get a heat gun or blow dryer and slowly work your way around the headlight to loosen up the adhesive.
On some cars, the auto-leveling motor can be twisted out and removed (kind of like a bulb gets twisted in/out to install/remove). Not sure about these cars.
