A lot of people have done stuff like that, and unless you know fully whats going on in the car its hard to tell what is and isn't safe. And honestly with the vortech kit... I would say its one of the safest routes to go. The MAF is designed to not require speed density and is far enough away from the compressor things such as dirty air filters, modified intakes, etc won't affect the MAF much if at all after it goes through the intercooler. Its far enough away from the throttle to avoid turbulence and a canned tune can probably work just fine for the majority of people.
