Personal example -- my FR-S is more fun at my local track (Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit) than my old STI ever was, even though it's slower.

I'd reserve judgement until we can get a test drive to compare. I'll grant that the new rex probably won't have the same ultra low 'one with the car' feel of the BRZ, but I bet it'll be as subjectively fun to drive as the current AWD lineup. Fun is totally subjective. Some people like fighting understeer. Others like trying to drift every corner. Others just want to go as fast as they possibly can trying to hit perfect lines.

The spoiler is effective at keeping the ass planted at 100+MPH. Subaru put the spoiler on the early STIs because they were tossing the rear up in the air too much during rally jumps.
It's ugly but effective. I bought my 05 STI because it's ugly in a beautifully-utilitarian way.
