When I got out of the car I could smell the burnt gears, so I was NOT pleased.
Anyone else noticed any odd behavior when they "miss a shift"?

That happened to me a handful of times on 3000miles of driving mine. I've missed a shift a few times in my always_manual_gearbox_driving career - 17 years, but this is definitely more often. I changed my oil to a thinner one (Redline MTL) a few weeks ago and the shift improved a lot. But today I did it again. So yes, sometimes it seems to trick me that I got a gear and I release the clutch *crunch* - oops apparently I haven't. Our gearboxes have triple synchromeshes on the first three gears I heard, these can take some time to break-in properly. So for now, I just have to readjust and take greater care shifting.
On the bright side, I like how with this car it matters how you drive because it will show right away, there's no fluffy mistake forgiving vagueness in any of the controls...
