That is so false. The best way to warm-up an engine is to drive it. Idling modern cars on cold start will not warm up the engine sufficiently fast, wastes gas, and causes wear. And when I say drive, I mean low RPM range until the oil temperature is sufficiently high enough...which happens faster from driving rather than idling.
