I am almost done with the rest of my stereo build, just have the driver side dash speakers left. You can see a pic of the passenger one in my garage. I have been working on refining my design for putting JL 8w7 where the rear speakers are and here is my latest plan.
First I am going to use sound deadening material to close all the gaps. I realize that this will still allow some flex which in my opinion is good because I would much rather these areas flex instead of the car body panel. Next I plan on making a wood and fiberglass composite panel to close the opening and mount the sub and speakers to. I will be making a sample of the composite soon so I can see if it will meet my needs.
I will get some pictures of my work up when I get started. I don't have a lot of time or space to work on this these days.
