Yes it is critical. Its less than a year from release, manufacturing has bidded and ordered the hubs for the car. The wheel manufacturer has already made expensive molds for the wheels. There are no good reasons/incentive for Toyobaru to switch to 5x114.3 now.
I've had to live with a 5x100 since 2006 when I bought my 2004 sti. And since then, there has been many more wheel options that have been available. And the FR-S/BRZ could be that push to get more manufacturers involved. 5x100 is more common than people think: VW, Toyota, Subaru (just 3 LARGE volume automakers!).
