Sorry for adding onto a discussion...
... but this is accurate. Another reason for the rear wing is not just for downforce generation alone, but also to merge airflow coming off the top of the car with what is coming from the diffuser.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the diffuser and the (unseen) underbody work, because if TRD did indeed test this in a wind tunnel, those two pieces work together as one functional unit for a right balance of downforce/drag.
Given the HP limitations of the car, one would assume that the AoA of the wing and the adjustable height factors into this.
