It's a Toyota with a Jackson racing supercharger. I actually found a dealership near San Francisco that is doing the recall with the car modified. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

That would be ideal, but is the most expensive option for me. The cheapest local shop I found quoted me $800 to uninstall the supercharger and another $600 to install it. Plus I don't have the stock...

California is forcing recall victims into the "if it doesn't break, you can't register it" camp. I would feel a lot more comfortable if a Subaru dealership with experience working on boxer engines...

I am aware of that. One of the dealerships I called said they have performed 17 successful recalls so far, not sure if they are to be believed haha.
