Rear Speaker Wire Question
Hi everyone. While searching the section, I came across a post that said it's okay to repurpose the rear speaker wires off of the factory harness. I was thinking of getting one of the Bazooka bass tubes (either the 850FH or 8100FHC). I don't really care for the rear speakers, so I was wondering if I can disconnect those, and tap the Bazooka FAST harness to it?
This way, I can somewhat control the volume of the sub by fading the volume to the rear. I just want to add a little more low end to the system, and I use my trunk often, so I need something that I can connect and disconnect easily and quickly. Would this be advisable to do? Thanks, guys. EDIT: if you're planning on tapping off the rear speakers, don't bother. Since they're high-passed, the Bazooka tube will not have much output since the wires aren't full range. Must use the front speaker wires. |
You can keep your rear speakers.
In the trunk, under the factory floor thing (where the spare tire is,) there is an amp. You can tap into the on/off signal wire from that (easy search) as well tap off the signal to the speakers and throw on a low pass filter. Or just run a set of rca's from the factory unit. It is super easy to run a power wire from the battery to the trunk. Many diy's. (easy search) I garentee you can do these things yourself. Couple hours maybe, vs hundredsss in shop fees. |

I don't have a problem installing things. I've done the system I had on my Yaris (HU, speakers, amp, sub): http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...s/DSC_0001.jpg I've installed wiring and speakers on an FX16 from scratch as well. It's more along the lines of keeping things simple with this. Taking out and putting in a box like that is just a PITA. I didn't mind having it in the Yaris (even ended up getting a slightly larger, ported box) since it had a good amount of trunk space. I'm not looking for the same amount of bass I had in my Yaris, just to fill the low's a little, and being able to take it out easily and quickly. |
