BRZ OEM Wheel Lug Lock Key?

Hey guys,

New owner of a 13' BRZ. I purchased the car from the original owner; however, he misplaced the OEM lug lock key. Does anyone have the key I could borrow to remove the locks? I already bought 4 OEM lug nuts to replace the lock lugs.

Thanks!

Not sure, but I think the key and wheel locks are unique, so you can't just borrow someone's key. Maybe you can go to a dealer and ask to remove them. I think they have like a master key.

Yeah this guy is right they are unique. (Well like 20 styles or w/e) most dealers do have a master set so they can do it for you and they shouldn't charge to much it only takes 10 minutes.

I lost the key when I had another car. Forgot where I went, but probably some tire shop and they charged me ~$20 to pull them off and installed some spare ones they had laying around.

Broke my key and one of the locks on my Civic and had to get it cut off. The lock was cracked and they couldn't remove it without causing damage. If the locks are not on tight and not damaged they should be able to pull them off cleanly.

But, I would recommend seeing if a dealer can just remove them with a master key first before trying to remove them by force at a tire shop and risk damaging your wheels.

The dealership has a "universal" one that they can use to take them off.

Just go to the dealership. They should have a master set to take it off for you for free. If not I'll help you out. We have a master set at my work in Putnam Toyota on Burlingame.

Appreciate the help guys. I'll take it down to Capitol or Stevens creek Subaru and see what they can do!

The dealer is your best bet as they do have a master set but there are other options, I personally have done this in the past with other non-mcguard lug nut locks but I only really recommend this as a last option.

I came across the same video during my research, but that is truly the last resort like you said.

If the two other dealerships refuse to remove the locks, then i'll take up on @Srthizz offer. :thanks:

I had a similar problem (dealer never gave me the key) .

I just wanted them off because I was about to install my new wheels in a month time .

Took it to Toyota only to find out they didn't have my key in stock (to purchase) and they do not carry that size lug nut to replace the locks ..... "Take it to Subaru"

:bs:

Putnam Subaru is just on the other of the street from Toyota. BTW, You can't just go to any Suburu/Toyota and expect them to have the wheel lock key on the shelf to be sold to customers. These need to be special ordered. And might need some info to get one. Just let me know if you need help.

Something like this would probably do the trick: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Tools-Bolt-Grip-Extractor-5-Piece-394001/dp/B0000CCXVZ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449008610&sr=8-1&keywords=stripped+bolt+remover"]IRWIN Tools Bolt-Grip Bolt Extractor Base Set, 5-Piece (394001) - Bolt Extractor Kit - Amazon.com[/ame]

Not sure if that is the exact correct size though...
