Fog light bulb size?
What bulb size is the fog lights in the brz?
|
Come on...nobody knows? My brz should be coming in Thursday or Friday...and I want to install yellow fogs asap!
|
PSX24W 24W according to manual. But not sure if it compatiable with any H4, H7 type, etc...
Sorry not familiar with this type of blub |
PSX24W as stated above.. it is in the manual after all :)
There are LED setups available and cheap HIDs.. the bulbs run at a lower wattage and high wattage bulbs could melt the housings. |
This is a situation where I would love to get the fog lights to match the headlights in color.
|
Aww, so much for upgrading the bulbs with slightly whiter color and more output. I hear these lamps are cheap plastic and can't handle much. At least they're grams lighter, use less energy, and last longer... -_-

Or I could do LEDs.. unfortunately I want them to function still but I also would like for them to match the color of the headlights. I have no idea if the LED bulbs I've seen are really functional or not. |

I hate when people roll around with fog lights on. Looks stupid. Also, they're useless. The car rides so low anyways when you have them on they show about an inch more light on the ground than the normal lights.

I agree they are functionally worthless. |
See, I disagree, I prefer the look of just head lights. I think it looks silly and spiderish with 4 lights on.

I want to change the color of the bulb too, but it's a hard one to match. I haven't found a reliable source for LEDs, and I can't get confirmation that HIDs (H16 conversion) wouldn't melt it. The other option would be to replace the foglight entirely with a pair of Hella aftermarket fogs (Micro DE or similar). |
I leave mine off unless it's foggy. I plan to wire up the rear red fog light to the same switch.

I couldn't find any PSX24W online but the equivalent of it is a 9009 bulb. I wanted yellow bulbs for my fogs so I went with a 9009.
BUT BE WARNED: there are some DIY on the 9009 bulb to make it fit into the BRZ fog lamp housing. Pretty simple though. I was able to chip off the extra plastic flaps with a flat head. Also, I'm not sure if 9009's will fry my wirings. The output is 55W compared to the 24W that is stock. So far no fires on the car :iono: |
