What gear+rpm to experience maximum torque?
 

Now that I'm more comfortable with the car and with some track time under my belt, I'm curious as to where the "sweetspot" is for this car in terms of torque? In my experimentation, 2nd gear 2000-3500RPM seems pretty nice, but is there any other spot in particular where you can really feel it?

I'd say you pretty much hit it with that range. after that it drops off to the dip and recovers past 4500. Without headers and a tune, you are just going to have to avoid those certain RPM's

The sweet spot is keeping the car above 5k RPM. The short gearing and 7400rpm redline allow you to keep the car within 5000~7000rpm, where you will get the most power (not necessarily "feel" it).

It comes down to nailing down heel-toe shifting to keep your RPM within that range on your exit. As long as you keep the motor above as low as 4500rpm, you're getting the most power.

Mathematically speaking, you'll experience more torque in first gear.

With some track experience and drift experience I recommend 5-6k. I recently bought my brz and I am beginning to be very comfortable with the cornering and it gives you alot of confidence, almost too much. A couple days I was driving on my nearest mountain downhill and I was mostly playing around 5-6k rpm and downhill it is exceptional even with the small amount of power(I was keeping pace with a 3.8L Genesis easily). However I like to avoid running the car 6-7k rpm unless its competitive.

Absolutely correct. 1st gear offers the most mechanical leverage between the crank & tire so peak torque (rpm) in 1st gear is the most torque you'll experience in any car.

Since 4th gear is 1:1 and 1st gear is 3.58:1 you can take peak torque x 3.58 = peak torque in 1st gear. (~140 x 3.58 = ~501.2 ft.lb)
