LED Flasher problem
 

Hello everyone,
I can't really figure out what the problem is so I'm asking all you GT86 experts!
Because, yes, first things first, the model I'm talking about is a GT86.

I bought a bunch of LED for both the front, tail and side turn signals.
With the stock flasher, as expected, they hyperblink.
What I didn't know is that they only hyperblink when you activate the left or right turn signals, when all turn signals are on (when pushing on the red triangle on the dash), the blinking rate is normal.

So, to solve the problem, I bought another flasher :

Now, when all turn signals are activated (with the red triangle) I get a slight delay (longer first flash) which I believe I can live with.

But nothing when I turn the turn signals command. No click, no light, nothing.
I only tested with the rear LED installed. Could it only work with LED in all spots?

Thanks for the answer. But, what's wrong with adjustable ones? How do they differ?

I don't see anything wrong with the adjustable ones other than they might cause issues timing wise? Honestly they are not necessary, HOWEVER make sure you test the car with LEDs in all spots just in case.

That's what I have in my car, not only does it include tap-turn (i.e mines set to 4 signal flashes when you "tap" the stalk) for quick easier lane changes it's also got some other nice quirks and secret goodies. Also it doesn't delay when you hit the turn signal stalk on the first click (the longer first flash you talked about doesn't appear with this)

No more problem. I hope the thread will help somebody else.

NExt question:
Is there a way to avoid the first blink delay?
Has anyone ever opened up a flasher and see what was possible to do to fix that problem? Like adding a capacitor somewhere... I don't know.
I'll check by myself, but, if by comparison somebody has ever opened a Valenti flasher and a chinese flasher, if that person could provide pictures, it'd be great :-) !

It's literally a normal relay inside, and the only fix I had was getting a high quality relay as I said in my first post with tap turn like this:

I personally have the second and don't have the delay you speak of anymore, my old relay however did.

Another vote for Tap-Turn here. It's not cheap, but it was worth it for the features it gives me.

Since it's simply an electronical device, I believe it's possible to "mod" it in order to get rid of that delay. That's probably what Valenti or Tap-Turn have done. I don't actually believe it is quality related but rather design-related.
I'll investigate! I believe it could help several people here on the forum.

I can wait the 1/2 second more especially for almost $100 for a flasher. I just learned to signal 1/2 sec earlier and saved a bunch of money :P

I always laugh when I see people talk about how an adjustable flasher relay changed their lives.

Is their a DIY fix for that first second delay?
