Gear lever rattle

Hi,

Would anyone be able to tell me if getting a Racseng gear knob and reverse lockout help eliminate the gear lever rattle?

I have replaced my gear lever under warranty for the third time now in 1.5 years and the rattle comes back after a few months each time depending on the amount of driving. I have also installed the TRD quickshifter to see if that would help but I took it off this last time to see if that was the cause. I have also tried adding an o-ring and lubing up the shift gear arm link.

It seems like the stock gear level just vibrates itself loose after some driving :sigh:

So I have been considering trying a new gear knob and reverse lockout to try get rid of this most irritating rattle.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

What is rattling ...... the shaft or the nob ..... ??

I had the same high rpm rattle from my stock unit.

I have since upgraded to a Raceseng knob and lockout, and do not have any more rattle.

I've been chasing a shifter rattle for a while and in my case, those two items did not cure my rattle. One easy way to test the reverse lockout would be to remove it and drive around ( reverse will be unavailable so plan accordingly ).

I have removed the knob, it still rattled. I never tried removing the reverse lockout completely, however I did try adding teflon tape to the plastic linings inside the reverse lockout so that it became very tight, but it still rattled.

I am struggling to find out where the rattle is coming from. As I said earlier I had the whole thing replaced under warranty three times. It lasts for a while then it eventually comes back.

The rattle is at high. If I rev up to say 7k rpm and let the rpm drop while in gear the rattle is quite bad.

I pretty sure it's the shaft.

Mine also had crazy rattle at higher rpms, but after I installed whitelinr insert & perrin rear shifter bushing a month ago, the rattle seemed to be gone so far. I feel like I got the bonus feature from those two parts because I never expected those bushings to remove that rattle. I call it is the Best 60 bucks spent on my car ever~ I did regret so bad that I put those after 2 yr+ ownership :)

I have the kartboy shirt shift. Adding raceseng shift knob did not solve my rattle issue.

Hopefully, I'll have the video by the weekend. I know this issue has been brought up MANY times but nothing I have tried has worked other than taking it to the dealers every 6 months

The kartboy short shifter replaces the whole oem gear lever, so the rattle is being generated from the gear lever link arm maybe.

After having taking my car to the dealers they removed the gear box and greased up everything in addition to replacing the gear lever. The transmission was like butter, very smooth and hardly any vibration. So if the vibration from the transmission is the cause how on earth is that fixed :iono:

Get transmission mount insert and rear shifter bushing if you haven't done it.
