crank timing marks?
A friend took his right side timing chain off and is now struggling the timing marks. The cams have the little marks and the chain has the 2 pink for the cams and the black link for the crank but cant see the markings on the crank. New to boxer motors. Where is the crank mark?
Thanks |
The crank mark is on the timing gear itself that drives the two chains, looks like a half moon dimple if I remember correctly. You have to remove the piece that goes over the crankshaft that allows the crank pulley to bolt up. It was pretty silly for me since I used the pulley to rotate the crank and had to keep installing and removing it to get it in place.
It's a bit hard to describe, I recall that it's on the gear sprocket itself, not the shinier flat machined face that the crank pulley/oil pump driver part goes on. Edit: This is a picture out of the FSM. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdrftr8oo.png |
