Rear suspension clunking noise. Help ):
Hey guys so ever since i installed my pbm lca ive been getting a clicking or clunking noise in the rear. When i had coilovers it wasn't as bad but i still had the noise going uneven pavement or at an angle. I just got my airlift kit installed and now the sound is worse. I get a clunking noise on bumps and everything that isnt flat smooth pavement. The shop tighten all the struts and top hats so it might not be it. I just got an alignment and the shop showed me that my rear sway bar on the left side is pushed out a little bit more than my right. Could this be the problem? Thanks guys

What psi are you driving at in the rear?
|
Clunking when driving can be one of 3 things:
1) loose coilover strut/center nut 2) loose LCA bolts/nuts 3) loose coilover assembly (top hats) or botton mount to LCA Assuming no defects with your parts... your installer sucks. -alex |
Rear CV joints can make these noises too

Check and re-torque all the hardware that you touched during the install.

Stock shocks? Stock shocks are prone to leak and cause a clunking sound over bumps. I've had mine replaced under warranty and know of several others with the same issue.

i had the noise when i was on coilovers too. i started getting the noise after i got my lca installed by a shop that took 2~3 days to install -_-.... so im wonder what is the proper way to tighten the LCA nut and bolts. im driving on 41~43 psi front and 46~48 psi rear.

PBM as in powered by max? I think I know what's up. lol The locking adjusters on these arms are HUGE. Jack up you car and have a look at where the LCA is connected to the subframe. see if there is any exposed or scored metal on both the subframe and the adjusters. If you find anything like that, then you have located the cause of the noise. haha You know what? Take some pictures of the mounting points on the subframe/LCA and post them up and I'll show you exactly whats going on. Also, what is the rear camber specs? These arms have a huge range of adjustment. I'm assuming they're designed for "hella" camber adjustment. lmao Which shop did the install? |
Yup, your installer sucks.
Find someone else to fix your clunking issue. |
which shop did the work?
