Clicking/Ticking Noise From Front Wheel
I'm looking for some help on diagnosing a clicking/ticking type noise that I'm experiencing at my front left wheel. At low speeds, typically up to about 15 mph I'm getting the noise shown in the video. I've experienced it in 1st, 2nd and reverse. The noise is only coming from the front left wheel.
https://youtu.be/IGGUKH1KH58 My wheel suspension setup is 18x9.5 +40 on ST Coilovers. There appears to be adequate clearance between the tire and strut. I ran this same setup last year without any issue, it only started this year when I put these back on in the Spring. I also thought it may have been a noise coming from the coilover, but the car is on jack stands in the video and still making the noise with zero loading on the suspension. The only threads I could find on here with a similar noise were axle related issues. The noise I'm experiencing doesn't seem consistent with the noises in those other videos, so hopefully that is not the issue here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
This may seem like a stupid question, but I've had issue with cheap lugs once... any chance something is up there? And in the video, it sounds like it's literally coming from the wheelwell, not further back, is it coming from the wheel or is it somewhere a bit back?

It almost sounds as if the springs are moving or the sway bar? It's really hard to tell from that angle. Have you tried holding the end link while spinning the wheel?

I don't think it's the lugnuts, they're Muteki's so it should be a decent quality. I torqued them to the recommended 90 ft-lbs when I changed the wheels, so I wouldn't expect a problem. I'm pretty sure the sound is coming from within the wheel well, likely one of the suspension components but I didn't see anything obvious when I looked. Quote:

Check clips on brakes.

Seriously, I like the brake clip theory ..... Back in the day, I would suspect a dragging brake shoe or a lose/broken brake shoe return spring or a dry wheel bearing ........ sorry, it must be past my nap time ..... :( humfrz |
I had this, and it eventually went away. not sure what it was.

Have you looked way up to see where your spring is resting and if it is/trying to move? Are your coilovers adjustable and fully tightened?

So I know this is an old thread, but what was the resolution to your issue?
