How many of you guys actually get the rear deck rattle/clicking solved?

Just curious how many of you guys actually got the rear deck rattle/clicking solved by taking it to the dealer? I don't feel like wasting my time if the dealer can't fix it properly like some people mentioned in other threads.

Lots of people fixed it themselves. The original fix was to punch the spot welds. But some had success by just spraying lithium grease in the gaps. Both solutions were in the clicking thread in the TSB section.

Worked like a charm for me and it was under 1.00$ to do. just stick one in the middle hole at the top of the trunk behind the seats

My dealer took care of it about a year ago. No problems. 100% fix. No idea how they did it. I'd definitely recommend letting the dealer do it if they're familiar with the problem. I had scarcely finished describing the symptoms and they offered to fix it for me. Another dealer about a year before that had no knowledge of the issue at all, so I think a lot depends on the service manager and personnel at the dealership in question.

I have pin pointed the source of rattle and it sure aint coming from middle hole at the top of the trunk. It is actually coming from in between the passenger c-pillar and the rear deck. I don't think sticking ear plugs would do anything for my case.

I have done everything besides punch the spot welds. I will let the dealer take care of this if it comes down to this.

Cool. I'm curious which side the clicking noise was coming from for you guys? Mine seems to be coming from the passenger side right above the rear deck.

I could induce it by hand just wiggling the spot-welded joints. I decided to see if the corrosion inhibitor would eventually cure or harden. Honestly, this is the first time I've thought about it in many months. I'll have to listen for it now.

I used lithium grease and shoved foam pieces like in this video.

Give the dealer a shot

I thought I had the deck rattle and the dealer actually ended up fixing something with the trunk latch mechanism (which must have been loose or something) -- anyway... one visit... no more noise. 18 months later... still no issue. Enough time has gone by... enough dealers have had to deal with the "complaint" - so give them a shot. Not all dealers are crap...

This was my fix - haven't had any issues since - literally took seconds.

I have a noise from the rear that I think is the rear shelf rattle, but I'm not sure. I keep forgetting to mention it to the dealer. I'll probably ask about it next oil change.

I punched all of the spot welds.
